About Us
Our mission is to provide a lifeline to both large and small breed pigs throughout the midwest.
Our rescue work is based on a 3 prong approach:
1. Boots on the Ground Rescue-
Our primary work is boots-on-the-ground rescue. We pull pigs from all sorts of abuse and neglect situations. We then transport them, provide them with vet care, and find them new forever homes. While we do not currently have acreage, we do have foster accommodations for pigs who need a safe place to land while we are coordinating their new forever home.
We work with sanctuaries, microsanctuaries, and private adopters.
Providing transportation and vet care for these pigs is often the missing piece of the puzzle that saves their lives. Sanctuaries are often stretched so thin that they can not accept a pig without this help being provided.
2. Sanctuary Support-
We strive to offer as much support as possible to the sanctuaries we work with. We do this by holding fundraisers for special projects at our partnering sanctuaries. We organize sanctuary work days with our CPR volunteers. Supporting sanctuaries is critical to sustainable animal rescue. Without sanctuaries, rescued animals would have no where to live!
3. Coaching for Microsanctuaries and Pig Parents-
We extend a helping hand to those looking to set up their own microsanctuaries. Microsanctuaries are an incredible way to take some pressure off of larger farm sanctuaries. According to the Microsanctuary Resource Center, a microsanctuary is any household caring for one or more non-traditional companion animals. The primary focus is using your dwelling as a space dedicated to caregiving as activism!
We provide informational resources to individuals who want to become pig parents.
In addition, we help pig parents troubleshoot problems that may arise while caring for their pigs. We also help with pig integrations. For pig parents residing in the Chicagoland area, we do offer home visits. By doing so, we hope to create more loving and knowledgeable homes for the pigs who desperately need them.
Through our work, we are paving the way towards a future that doesn't discriminate animals based on their species.
We are working towards a world that doesn't view large breed pigs as commodities to use and slaughter, just because they were born as one type of pig verses the other; and a future where feral pigs are respected as part of nature's precious eco-system, instead of viewed as "pests" to exterminate.
We are a passionately anti-speciseist, vegan organization.
Though we do believe in meeting people where they are, in order to make as much progress as possible!

Chicagoland Pig Rescue was founded by April Noga in the summer of 2020.
April continues to direct CPR, along with co-director Phoebe Conner.
Our board of directors includes: April Noga, Phoebe Conner, Tyler Tassone, Danielle Miller, and Courtney Gordon.
Chicagoland Pig Rescue is a foster based rescue, but our home base is April Noga and Tyler Tassone's microsanctuary, Sweet Petunias.
CPR also has an amazing network of volunteers who help with a variety of our work, such as transporting pigs, networking, and fostering! Without our board of directors, incredible volunteers, partnering sanctuaries, and the generous people who donate to support our work, we wouldn't be able to do what we do!

While we focus on cases here in Illinois and around the midwest, we do network all over the US.
We go where the cases take us..
So far this has included 15 states- as far west as California, as far northeast as Maine, and as far south as Florida!
As of February 2024 we have saved 271 pigs!
